Hi Friends! I'm sooo excited to share this recipe with you. This is my all time favorite cocktail - it's sweet, it's spicy and perfect for sipping in the last days of summer (or any time of the year, really). Long over due, I'm fulfilling a promise from 4 months ago when I shared my recipe for homemade ginger beer.
I call this a "Kentucky Buck in Holland" because it's an adaptation of a traditional Kentucky Buck. I keep it simple and pander to my own preferences by omitting the usual strawberry and using lime instead of lemon.
Fun cocktail fact: a "buck" refers to a family of drinks comprised of ginger beer, a spirit and citrus - the popular Moscow Mule belongs in this category (info c/o Saveur.com). While I enjoy just about every one of the cocktails in this family, I will hands down, always pick one made with wisk(e)y and more specifically bourbon if I have a choice.
And now on to the recipe...
Ingredients (for one):
2 oz bourbon
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1 Slice of lime for garnish
3 oz ginger beer (homemade is best but Reed's a great store bought option)
In a cocktail shaker, shake bourbon and lime juice with ice until chilled. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with lime slice. Proost!
What's your favorite libation? I'm always on the lookout to shakeup something new.
